Temporary Utility Rentals Help Relaunch the USS Augusta

The Challenge to the Customer 

After serving ten years at sea, the USS Augusta was in need of extensive refurbishing – and the navy turned to Electric Boat, a world-class supplier of nuclear submarines, for the restoration. Electric Boat needed large-scale and reliable temporary utilities to complete the project.

To assure success for the five-month restoration, Electric Boat chose Aggreko to provide dependable equipment and regular fuel deliveries.

Aggreko's Solution

The USS Augusta project required 4 generator rentals with fuel drops, a chiller rental, 2 electric air compressor rentals, and rental heaters. Aggreko also provided about 600,000 gallons of fuel to the USS Augusta restoration.

The Benefit to the Customer

Aggreko’s operational performance on this project enabled Electric Boat to complete the project with zero downtime and as a result, return the submarine back to the Navy early and under budget. .
