Pune, 29th
September 2009 – Aggreko, the global leader in the
provision of rental power and temperature control services, today
announced the opening of its first depot in India, located at
Wagholi Village in Pune. The depot represents part of Aggreko’s
initial investment of 300 Million INR in India and will cater to
India’s growing demand for temporary power. Aggreko entered the
Indian market earlier this year through the takeover of Cummins
India Ltd’s power rental business.
The depot was officially
inaugurated by Kash Pandya, Managing Director, Aggreko
International, and James Shepherd, Managing Director, South and
West Asia. The depot will provide temporary power for industries
such as manufacturing, oil and gas, shipping, process industries,
mining and construction, as well as for major sporting events.
Aggreko can also provide multi-megawatt power projects to support
the rapid growth of India and to assist in overcoming capacity
constraints.
In his speech to mark the opening
of the facility, Kash Pandya, Managing Director, Aggreko
International, said: "With over 45 years experience, Aggreko has a
deep and thorough understanding of the power rental business. Our
equipment is specifically designed for rental power applications
and Aggreko is known throughout the world as a company which offers
the highest standards of quality and service. We understand India’s
power requirements across all regions and we are excited to be able
to provide high quality rental power to different industries."
The Pune depot is the first step
for Aggreko towards a significant presence throughout India. James
Shepherd, Managing Director, South and West Asia, said: "We will
have a multi-hub system with depots located in strategic cities
across India. Our first depot in Pune will service our customers in
Western India; our Chennai depot will follow soon to take care of
the Southern market. Going forward we plan to open service
operations in Delhi and Kolkata by the end of 2010 to cater to our
customers in the North and East of India respectively. Our goal is
to provide excellent service to our customers across the country
and to be the only rental power supplier who can offer 24/7 service
support anywhere in India, even at a short notice."
Aggreko has provided turn-key power
packages for customers in a variety of industries, including ABB,
BG Group, ConocoPhillips, Fluor, IBM, Samsung, Shell and Tata
Chemicals. Along with providing power for industrial uses, Aggreko
is also the first choice in power rental for major sporting events.
In the past two years, Aggreko has delivered over 160 MVA of
temporary power to the Beijing Olympics, powered the European
Football Championships and has been selected to supply the power
for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In January this year,
Aggreko supplied power for the inauguration of US President Barack
Obama.
