Glasgow, Scotland: A motion has been passed in the Scottish Parliament recognising the key role Aggreko will play in delivering the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil as the official supplier of temporary power to both events. The motion by Jackson Carlaw MSP, and supported by 16 other parliamentarians, praised Aggreko as “the best in the world in providing power generation and temperature control,” stating that the success of Aggreko is “something in which the whole country can be proud”.
This prestigious honour came on the back of a May 22nd event hosted at Aggreko’s global manufacturing facility celebrating Glasgow hosting the XX Commonwealth Games. Under the banner of ‘Generating Powerful Partnerships’, the event brought together over 100 Scottish business leaders, Games sponsors, politicians, media and other stakeholders, with the aim of strengthening business relationships and networks as an ongoing, positive legacy of Glasgow hosting the Games.
“To be recognised in Parliament for our work in supporting major events both locally in Scotland and globally is a great honour and a strong endorsement of what we do, highlighting the importance of Aggreko in Scotland,” commented Dan Ibbetson, Managing Director, Aggreko Northern Europe.
