Aggreko Powers the 2007 PGA Kick-off Tour
26 September 2007
As thousands awaited the kick-off
of the PGA Tour’s seven-tournament Fall Series in Verona, New York,
Aggreko Event Services, the world’s leading supplier of temporary
power and temperature control systems, was behind the scenes to
ensure uninterruptible power and climate control throughout the
venue. The Turning Stone Resort Championship was the first time the
Atunyote Golf Club had hosted a PGA Tour event.
Aggreko Event Services supports a
wide range of major golfing events each year, including the PGA,
the Ryder Cup, the US Open and Byron Nelson tournaments. “Each
event carries a unique set of challenges,” said David Prince
National Accounts Representative for Aggreko Event Services. “The
Turning Stone Resort adheres to the strictest of codes in terms of
course and landscaping conditions and this was the first time we
had designed a plan to support a major golf tournament at this
particular course. However, our event team worked around the clock
to ensure conditions were pristine for the spectators and
players.”
The length of the course and the
breadth of the layout presented a particular challenge – stretching
over 7,500 yards, it required 1,000 tons of air conditioning
equipment for the corporate chalets, media and merchandising tents
as well as three megawatts of electricity, enough to power 2,000
homes.
Ensuring spectators, event
planners, vendors and players all had the power, cooling and
lighting they needed during this event demanded intensive
behind-the-scenes collaboration. “Aggreko has performed very well
from the planning stages of a first year event through the
installation process and on-site management,” said Monte Ortel
Tournament Operations Manager “David Prince has assembled a
thorough plan and has executed that plan very well. Turning Stone
Resort Championship is very pleased with Aggreko’s service,
equipment and personnel.”
Aggreko has a long history of
powering high-profile events, including U.S. Presidential
Inaugurations, Olympic Games, World Cup soccer championships, the
US Open golf championship, and the Daytona 500 NASCAR race.
