Aggreko and Oklahoma State team up for Selechtech Program
Temporary Utility Services Provider and University to Offer
Accelerated Associate Degree
Aggreko LLC, the world’s leading supplier of temporary power,
temperature control and oil-free compressed air solutions, has
partnered with Oklahoma State University to offer a two-year
program for 20 students from around the country who are interested
in a rewarding career in the specialty rental industry. The Aggreko
SelecTech Accelerated Career Program is a cooperative two-year
college level education curriculum that leads to an Associate in
Applied Science degree with a major in Diesel and Heavy Equipment
Technology. The Heavy Equipment and Vehicle Institute at Oklahoma
State University-Okmulgee administers the program activities in a
close working relationship with Aggreko. SelecTech at OSU begins
during the Fall 2008 semester and is exclusively by and for
Aggreko.
“The Aggreko SelecTech Program at OSU will produce graduates
with the highest technical competency in the market,” said Terry
Dressel, Aggreko’s Vice-President, National Operations. “The
program will provide students with the most up-to-date training to
diagnose, service and maintain equipment and will enable graduates
to more easily advance in position after additional
experience.”
The two-year program will be divided into six 16-week
trimesters. The first half of each trimester will be designated for
technical and academic coursework at OSU-Okmulgee. Students will
spend the remaining eight weeks of each trimester as a paid intern
at their local Aggreko Service Center. The internship allows
students to apply, in a real world setting, what they have learned
during the previous classroom sessions. In addition, students
become familiar with the Aggreko environment, its organizational
structure and the competencies that are expected of a professional
service technician.
Twenty students will be selected from across the country. The
selection process will include interviews and personal
recommendations and high school coursework; grades will also be
considered. Any student selected must be a high school graduate, 18
or older by the time of the first internship, meet OSU-Okmulgee
admission and academic requirements, possess a valid driver’s
license with an acceptable driving record and be sponsored by an
Aggreko Service Center.
There are many benefits to the Aggreko SelecTech Program beyond
earning a degree. Each student in good standing will receive a
$1,000 per trimester scholarship. In addition, students from
outside Oklahoma will be exempted from paying out-of-state tuition.
SelecTech graduates will also have the opportunity for employment
at Aggreko, which will enable them to continue to learn by working
alongside the most experienced experts in the field. Those
