Aggreko receives Dubai Environment, Health & Safety Award 2008

• Environment, Health & Safety awards held in Dubai.

• Aggreko has been recognised for its fire safety plan which is a part of its 'Safety for Life' program.

Dubai – Aggreko International, the regional and global leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, was honoured by the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, when it was presented with a bronze trophy during the Dubai Environment, Health & Safety Awards 2008. The award was presented in recognition of Aggreko’s Fire Response Plan. Derek Shepherd, Managing Director of Aggreko International, accepted the award on behalf of the Aggreko QHSE team from Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Director General of Dubai Customs at the presentation ceremony held in Dubai.

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) awards are sponsored by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and are presented annually by PCFC, as part of its initiative to promote safe operating practices in companies working throughout the Free Zone and Port. The aim of these awards is to continue to raise the profile of HSE in Dubai, to recognize companies who have excelled in HSE performance, and to give companies the chance to showcase their environment, health and safety achievements.

The fire emergency and fire prevention plan developed by Aggreko forms part of Aggreko’s Safety for Life program, which was launched as a company-wide initiative in July 2008. The fire safety plan describes the fire fighting equipment and fire detection system in place and outlines the procedures to be implemented by responsible zone fire marshals in the event of fire. Fire drills are conducted periodically in conjunction with the JAFZA fire department and are an integral part of the ‘Safety for Life’ program. The program has been developed in order to raise awareness about health and safety issues for staff and includes several in-depth training programs including defensive driving and fire safety.
