Dubai, November 2009 -
Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, will once again be
powering the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby
Sevens tournament, from 3rd - 5th
December. This major international sporting event is now in its
40th year and this is the tenth year in a row that
Aggreko has supplied it with temporary power. This year Aggreko
will also be providing a cooling package.
Crowds of 40,000 a day are expected at
the event, a hugely successful annual showcase for the sport, with
millions more tuning in across the world to watch the games.
Aggreko will be providing power for essential
functions such as the big screen, facilities for broadcasters,
security and lighting, from the Rugby Village and the international
broadcast centre to the VIP hospitality area - where Aggreko
is also providing cooling.
Aggreko’s involvement in
the tournament is not restricted to power and temperature control:
the company will once again be sponsoring the
Aggreko Dynamos, the Australian cheerleading squad that is
always a popular and energising presence at the tournament. Aggreko
will also sponsor the local referees, as well as the CNCF Veterans
Team, who will be defending their title as winners of the
International Veterans tournament for the second consecutive
year.
Phil Burns, Managing
Director, Aggreko Middle East, said: “The Dubai Rugby Sevens is
unique amongst international rugby events and we take a great deal
of pride in being able to support the tremendous achievements of
the tournament. The Aggreko team is made up of some very
enthusiastic rugby followers, and we’re all excited to hear that
the sport has also been introduced to the Olympics in 2016.”
Aggreko is the leader in
power rental for the events industry and has provided turn-key
power packages for the Olympic Games in
Beijing, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Sydney and Turin, as well as
other major sporting events such as the Football, Rugby and Cricket
World Cups, and many golf championships.
