Cargo Power preserves perishable foods
after a hurricane
The challenge to the customer
When Hurricane Georges hit the
eastern U.S. coast in 1998, a produce supplier with 500 tons (453
m.t.) of perishables docked in the bay found themselves in a dire
predicament.
Aggreko's solution - generator rental power
A contingency plan went into action
immediately, calling on Aggreko to power the containers using fifteen Cargo Power
units while they were moved to a facility 10 miles (16 km) inland
to weather the storm.
The benefits to the customer
Through Aggreko's rapid response
that allowed the refrigerated containers to maintain the proper
temperature during the move, and throughout the duration of the
hurricane, the fresh produce was preserved until delivery was
possible.
