Aggreko Powers Kenny Chesney Tour
Leader in Rental Services is the Stadium Choice
HOUSTON (September 1, 2009) – “When the sun goes down”, the
lights go on for this summer’s tour of the popular country crooner
Kenny Chesney, thanks to Aggreko, the global leader
in
rental power,
temperature control
and
oil-free compressed air solutions. Aggreko has been chosen to
power the largest outdoor stadium venues of Chesney's 2009 Sun City
Carnival tour, which also includes a line-up of Sugarland, Lady
Antebellum, Miranda Lambert and Montgomery Gentry.
A state-of-the-art video wall, sound
equipment, lighting equipment - and the famous “Kenny Chair” that
lifts the singer over the audience - require more than 1.8 MW of
power, which is enough for approximately 250 medium-sized American
homes. In addition, temperature control is needed to keep all of
the video equipment cool and working. Some of the venues on this
multi-city tour, such as outdoor football stadiums, do not have the
infrastructure to support an event of this magnitude. Chesney’s
concert producers trust Aggreko to provide the critical utilities
and technical support they need.
“An average of 50,000 fans see Kenny’s
fantastic show in each of the venues we power, so it is imperative
that everything run smoothly,” said George Long, Senior Project
Manager, Aggreko Event Services. “Aggreko supplies power,
heating and cooling systems designed to support all of the aspects
- lighting, sound, and video - of this monumental production.”
In all, Aggreko is providing the temporary
power and temperature control for nine tour venues in outdoor
stadiums, including Papa John’s (Louisville, Kentucky), Heinz Field
(Pittsburgh), Soldier Field (Chicago), Lincoln Financial Field
(Philadelphia), AT&T Park (San Francisco), Qwest Field
(Seattle), Gillette Stadium (Boston), Ford Field (Detroit), and
Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis).
Aggreko has a long history of powering the
most high-profile events in the world, including the 2009
Presidential Inauguration and election night events, the Daytona
500 and New York’s Fashion Week. The 2009 Sun City Carnival tour is
the largest multi-city concert production the company has powered
to date.
“We have been working with Aggreko for more
than seven years and know they are the best in the business,” added
Ed Wannebo, the tour production manager. “They understand the
need for the power to operate flawlessly and the professional
Aggreko technicians work seamlessly with all of the local vendors
and crews to make sure Kenny’s fans get the best show
possible.”
