Contingency planning focus at Healthcare Estates 2019
Aggreko will be highlighting the importance of effective contingency plans for UK hospitals from stand B55 at Healthcare Estates 2019.
A reliable power supply is crucial to the continued safe running of a hospital. However, increasingly tight budget constraints mean the ageing equipment to provide this standby power is becoming less efficient, less reliable and more likely to break down.
Yet with even one hour of downtime being unacceptable in the hospital environment, healthcare providers must ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place and managed effectively via the Health Technical Memoranda.
At the show, Aggreko will be highlighting the dangers of outdated contingency plans and the risk hospitals may face in emergency situations. For example, changes to personnel or building extensions could jeopardise existing plans, making updates necessary even if the plan is adequate.
“Ageing, inefficient power systems and temperature control equipment can be a drain on hospital funds,” said Craig Fleming, Aggreko’s Sector Team Leader for NHS & Government Services. “With many facilities managers bound by capex constraints, temporary equipment could offer a ‘bridging gap’ solution that allows hospitals to enjoy efficiency benefits while saving for a permanent installation.”
With the bridging gap in mind, Aggreko will also be showcasing cost-effective and energy-efficient cogeneration technology, alongside backup diesel generators, heating and cooling equipment as well as contingency plans.
In addition, on the 8th October, we are hosting a speaker session in the HVAC & Engineering Theatre, on temporary equipment: a lifeline to ageing hospitals. Find out more here.
