THE CHALLENGE
Generate additional power from petroleum gas
Sorovskoye is an oil and gas field located in Salym, in the Tyumen Region of Khanty -Mansiysk
Autonomous District, in Russia - an area with no available power grid connection. Burneftegaz Ltd. (an affiliate of PJSOC Bashneft) started drilling and commissioning new oil wells and so required additional power for oil production and transfer pumps.
Having large volumes of associated petroleum gas (APG), it seemed obvious that the most viable solution was to generate additional electrical power from gas generators.
Aggreko Eurasia won the tender to supply gas generators and transformers to produce 5.5 MW of electricity with an additional capacity for a further 12 MW.

THE SOLUTION
50 days to install and
commission
Aggreko provided a turn-key solution, implementing everything - from providing the foundations for the gas generator plant and transformers, to installation and commissioning of the fully functional power plant.
The work included construction of the gas pipeline from the feed source up to the power plant and the internal site gas supply network and cable tray system installation, as well as arranging the warehouse for supplies, oil and lubricants.
The supply pack included six gas generator sets, one transformer, one gas separation and control unit, and sanitary and welfare containers.
Aggreko took just 50 days from putting up the first pole to the power site commissioning, which took Aggreko’s skilled engineering team only three days.

Aggreko wasted no time and configured the most efficient configuration of equipment, so commissioning could adhere to strict timelines. This included the full range of construction and installation works.
Our experience in APG operations made a massive difference. We were operating 10 similar APG-powered sites at the same time, with a capacity of 70 MW, so our knowledge could make operations faster and more efficient.
