Beefing up power for a huge event
Beef Week is an internationally recognised event held in Rockhampton every three years by Beef Australia. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition was moved to May 2021.
With temperatures reaching 28 degrees at that time of year, and no access to grid power at the location, Beef Australia needed a partner to provide them with adequate power and
temperature control to the 214 trade sites for the duration of the week-long event. With over 100,000 visitors expected this was to be the biggest Beef Week ever and reliable power was crucial to the smooth running of the show.
As the Australian Prime Minister and 39 State and Federal Ministers were due to attend, along with 200 national and international journalists, it was an extremely high-profile event that could not afford even the smallest of power interruptions

Bespoke design and installation with expert project management and onsite technicians
Aggreko designed and installed a bespoke setup of different sized generators, air conditioners, chillers, and air handlers, as well as all the necessary cabling and distribution equipment.
The total power of the generators combined was 3.76 MW, and over the five days of the event they generated an average of 12.7 MW. This was equivalent to powering the entirety of residences in the local suburb of Wandal.
The event also used a total of 2.79 MW of HVAC, 14.6 km of power cabling, 725m of HVAC ducting, and 40,000 litres of fuel.
To ensure the smooth running of operations we provided onsite project management for a six-week period leading up to the event, and through to demobilisation afterwards. During the month-long install, we had a peak workforce of seven technicians onsite, and full 24-hour onsite support during the event itself.
