Aggreko has used its trademark containers to launch new offices in Baku.

The new 3,000sqm facility is housed in 11 of its 20ft long ISO containers, which had previously contained energy generation engines. It provides a base for 14 employees, 12 of whom are local.

“We are committed to our business in Baku and to supporting local industry, so creating these facilities was a natural step forward,” said Alex de Valukhoff, Managing Director, Aggreko Eurasia.

“We supply power on a mobile, modular basis, so it is scalable, as well as reliable and cost effective. Our office, warehouse and service workshop also reflect this. We are delighted to consolidate our local presence, to be close to our customers so that we can satisfy their growing needs. From here, we also service the greater Caucasus region.”

The new facilities were officially inaugurated by the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Dr Carole Crofts, and attended by representatives from SOCAR, WorleyParson, Wood Group, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, Port of Baku and other Aggreko guests.

Aggreko has been operating in Azerbaijan for more than five years and has successfully implemented power and heating and cooling projects in a number of industries, including oil and gas, shipyards, events and construction.

Dr Crofts, said: “Aggreko has contributed to several highly significant projects in Azerbaijan, including the Shah Deniz 2 platform and the Baku European Games in 2015.

“It’s encouraging to see UK companies expanding in this market and to witness UK technology and expertise contributing to the growth of the oil and gas sector and more broadly in Azerbaijan. Today’s event illustrates why Azerbaijan should still be considered a priority market for the UK and that it is a country that continues to offer significant opportunities for the UK business”.

Aggreko has a policy of employing and training a local workforce and for supporting communities in the areas in which it operates.
