Our Asia business has bagged arguably the biggest award at the 20th Anniversary Annual Business Awards, held by the British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore

We won the “Success in ASEAN” category – arguably the biggest prize of the night. This category celebrates companies positively impacting the economy and workforce of one or more ASEAN countries (Association of South East Asia Nations). And Aggreko beat stiff competition from Gammon and BT Group to win the grand prize.

The judges were clearly impressed by our achievements in the region:

  • 109 MW gas power for the Myanmar government, powering communities, improving lives and enabling industries

  • Commissioning power for constructing the world’s largest crane vessel in Singapore

  • Numerous off-grid utility power projects in the sparse island geographies of Indonesia and the Philippines

  • Powering the globally acclaimed first night race in cosmopolitan Singapore

  • Temporary power for the inaugural Youth Olympics in Singapore, alongside contingency power for the 2018 Asian Games

  • Biogas co-power generation for a Thai starch factory which fulfilled 15 of the 17 goals under the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals Agenda (Energy) framework

Phil Burns, Asia Middle East MD, said: “With over 500 of our people in ASEAN and more than 2,000 power and temperature projects executed and counting, we clearly have a positive impact across a wide range of sectors in ASEAN economies. We not only deliver critical power and cooling to the countries that we operate in, but we also develop and nurture local people, helping lift families towards middle income status and better living standards.”
