Aggreko selected to provide power to New Istanbul International Airport in Turkey
Aggreko has been selected to supply power solutions at the New Istanbul International Airport in Turkey.
To mark the 95th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, the first phase of Istanbul’s new airport had its grand opening on October 29, 2018. The new airport is located 35 km away from the city centre.
Aggreko provided 6 MW of power for the project, which included installation and commissioning for the event. Our expertise in power allowed our client to host the lavish opening ceremony in which Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, Mehmet Cahit Turhan, took part and supported the contractor in every step of the spectacular opening of the hub.
This new transport hub is expected to accommodate around 150 million travellers annually, putting it amongst the largest airports in the world. When eventually completed, the facility will comprise six runways, eight air traffic control towers, 165 passenger boarding bridges, 500 airplane capacity, and rail-connected terminals spread over 70 million square feet.
We work round the clock, making sure everyone gets power, heating and cooling they need, whenever they need it – all powered by our class-leading equipment, trademark passion, unrivalled international experience and local knowledge.
From urban development to wonderful opening ceremonies, we bring our expertise and equipment to any location, from the world’s busiest cities to some of the most remote places on earth. We believe in the positive impact of power!
