IWD Interview with Brigit
My name is Brigit McPherson. I am a Territory Sales Manager for NAM covering Texas and Oklahoma. I have been with Aggreko for a little over one year. Participating in the International Women’s Day article is important to me because it provides a vehicle to showcase successful women within our company and the qualities they possess.
How would you describe your role at Aggreko?
I have the responsibility to coach, lead and motivate my sales team toward achieving our revenue objectives, creating an excellent customer service experience and fostering a great company culture.
How would you define women empowerment?
Women empowerment means supporting and encouraging other females to achieve their goals through mentorships, training and equal opportunities throughout our company based on abilities.
What would you tell your younger self?
Looking back I would tell myself its’ not about how long it takes you to climb the corporate ladder but the journey you have along the way. Do a job that you’re passionate about and success will follow.
What do you consider female attributes?
Female leaders tend to be empathetic, encouraging, team players with high EQ.
Who is your biggest influence in life?
My mother. She was a single mom raising two children on her own. We didn’t have much but she always made sure we were loved and provided for. Her example taught me that staying strong, focused and willing to accept change will ensure you obtain the goals you have set.
Why do you think it’s important to have International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is the catalyst that connects all working women across the globe. It allows us to recognize how far we have come in the workplace and to celebrate that success. At the same time it keeps an awareness of the work still to be done.
What message would you like to leave for men and women on International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is not about special treatment of women in the workplace. It is about having a better understanding of gender difference and the benefit women of all skillsets can bring to our organization.
What are you looking most forward to about the event?
I’m looking forward to connecting with other strong, talented women across our organization that can serve as role models for new employees.
