IWD Interview with Chrisma
Hi I’m Chrisma Ng. I am turning 32 this year and I live in Singapore. I am a Regional Marketing Specialist for the Asia region and I oversee mainly the digital and content marketing aspects, together with my wonderful team. I’ve decided to take part in this movement because I believe in the empowerment of women and of course, I celebrate femininity!
How would you describe your role at Aggreko?
I love digital marketing and believe content marketing is the way to go! That explains why I chose this for my career I guess! I help specific countries in the Asia region with their digital and content marketing efforts.
How would you define women empowerment?
Women empowerment is like yin and yang – a marriage of two opposite yet complementary energies. It means independence, to be strong enough to speak up for yourself, and to be empowered to make choices. It also means to be able to nurture, motivate and inspire the ones around us whenever we can.
What would you tell your younger self?
I would tell my 18-year-old self to focus less on boys, parties and late nights. Haha. Oh, I’d tell her too, that though it’s important to know what you are doing but it’s also fun not knowing what you’re doing too. Experiences are what make us, so go on, and lose yourself while trying to find yourself.
What do you consider female attributes?
To be compassionate towards all things I guess. It’s not easy for a man to display his softer side whereas being a woman, we’re encouraged to. Lucky us.
Who is your biggest influence in life?
Why do you think it’s important to have International Women’s Day?
I think it’s important to educate the younger generation on what this day is about. And how young girls should learn to be empowered, independent and strong.
What message would you like to leave for men and women on International Women’s Day?
To accelerate gender parity, we have to start educating the youth.
What are you looking most forward to about the event?
The women from all over the world celebrating their achievements whether it’s academic or professional and what they have done to contribute to the environment.
