Aggreko Celebrates 25 Years Of Powering Americas 49th National Football Championship Game

22 January 2015: Houston, Tx – Aggreko, the world's leading provider of temporary power generation and temperature control solutions, celebrates its 25th year supplying power generation for America’s 49th national football championship, taking place in Glendale, AZ. on Feb. 1, 2015 between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

The event requires both heating and cooling, and power generation for the entire 63,400-seat stadium, which has a retractable roof and field that has the ability to expand and seat an additional 8,800 observers.

Aggreko is providing power for multi-platinum pop star Katy Perry’s halftime show, and both the national and the international broadcast compound - which is responsible for televising the championship game worldwide to more than 100 million viewers.

Aggreko’s major events division, Aggreko Event Services, is providing: 14MW of temporary power; 1,200KW of electric heat; 750 tons of air conditioning for the big game and the surrounding VIP and hospitality venues; a crew of 16 Aggreko technicians to manage the installation and operations; including hundreds of accessories, including panels, transformers and about 400,000 ft. of cable, equivalent to 75 miles.

"This is the 25th year Aggreko has provided temporary power for the national football championship game and broadcast,” said David Prince, senior events project manager of Aggreko Events Services.  “Our team faced new challenges this year and had to prepare an installation plan due to the all-pro football game, normally held in Hawaii, being scheduled at the same location the weekend prior to the big game, and Aggreko is supporting that game as well.”

Immediately following the all-pro game, Aggreko will quickly remove all temporary power equipment on the field in order to allow stadium officials to remove the retractable natural grass field.  Planted in a tray roughly two acres in size, the grass field will be stored in sunlight until the following week when the venue hosts the national football championship game.

When it is time for the grass field to be reinstalled, Aggreko technicians will redeploy the power generation solutions needed to support the national championship game’s kick off festivities, broadcast operations and special events.
