AGGREKO SUPPLIES POWER TO PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES
Leader in Temporary Services Chosen for Three Presidential
Debates
HOUSTON, TEXAS (September 25, 2008) - Aggreko,
the global leader in the rental of power, temperature control and
oil-free compressed air systems, has been contracted to provide
services to three upcoming Presidential debates. The
nationally televised events will be held on September
26th at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude Ford
Center; on October 7th at Belmont University’s Curb
Event Center in Nashville; and on October 15th at
Hofstra University’s basketball arena in Long Island.
In addition to providing power for the
debates, Aggreko’s team of 14 technicians will be responsible for
supplying supplemental on-stage air-conditioning for the candidates
and power for the print press centers as well as additional support
areas. Aggreko will also power the on-campus “Rock the Debate”
rally and concert for students beginning at noon on the day of the
Ole Miss debate.
“We at Aggreko are proud to be involved in
these events which are so vital to our democracy,” said George
Long, Aggreko’s senior event manager. “Every four years there
are only three Presidential debates and many Americans make their
decisions based on what they see at these debates. It’s up to
Aggreko to make sure our service is perfect. There can be no
mistakes. Planning started almost a year ago and we aim for
excellence, nothing less.”
Overall, Aggreko will provide the debate
venues with:
- 16MW of power, enough to power more than
1,000 homes
- Enough cable to stretch from Hofstra University in Long Island
to New York City’s Central Park
“Aggreko’s wealth of experience handling
high-profile events, whether they are the Olympic Games, Super
Bowls, or past presidential debates, inaugurations and political
conventions made them the obvious choice,” said Ron Jackson,
general manager of Belmont University’s Curb Event Center. “We are
very confident that Aggreko’s team of highly trained professionals
will ensure a smooth event.”
The set-up for each debate is expected to take
between two to three weeks. It will take four days to remove the
equipment.
