Temporary Power Helps T&D Provide a
Solution to its Customers
The Customer Challenge
A major utilities provider covering a 50,000 square mile service
territory needed to perform a routine repair to failed cable in its
distribution system. Because of a long standing relationship
with the local Aggreko representative, the transmission and
distribution (T&D) customer called Aggreko for
generator rentals while repairs were
made.
From the meeting, Aggreko gained a better
understanding of the problem, and was able to offer an alternative
approach that would provide a long term solution rather than a
short term fix, helping the utility to better serve its
customers.
The Aggreko Solution
Aggreko provided the temporary electricity so
the T&D’s system could be taken off line for a full
upgrade. While Aggreko supported their customers, the T&D
was able to focus on designing and installing an improved
distribution system that would enable them to better meet the
demand for electricity in the area.
Aggreko generator rentals were on site
for 10 days while a larger transformer was installed. During
this time, the old lead cable was also completely removed to
introduce new poly cable.
The Benefit to the Customer
While the Aggreko solution included a longer
term rental, it gave the utility company the flexibility it needed
to install a permanent solution that better suited its long-term
needs.
