Interim Power Plant Project Lifecycle

An illustration of an interim power plant project lifecycle with Aggreko:

  • Interim power plant

    An 8 week project lifecycle.

  • Stage 1

    Engineering & Design

After receiving notice of a contract, the Aggreko in-house engineering team begins preparations for the mobilisation & commissioning of the project.

Years of experience gives Aggreko the advantage of understanding power systems & helps our engineers to design all aspects of the turn-key power package, creating site layouts that work with the timeframe, location and power requirements.

  • Stage 2

    Mobilisation

Aggreko equipment is fully tested and prepared for shipment from its hub of strategically placed depots world-wide.

  • Stage 3

    Site Preparation

Prior to the arrival of equipment, the site is leveled and compacted, with drainage installed in order to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.

  • Stage 4

    Installation

Equipment is positioned according to the engineered project design, which allows all around access for operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Stage 5

    Fuel Supply

The Aggreko engineering team will assess the existing systems and make recommendations for a fully integrated solution.

  • Stage 6

    Aggreko Generators

Aggreko modular generators are designed and built specifically for continuous rental applications. Pre-packaged inside ISO standard 20’ containers, each generator set is rated to deliver continuous power 24/7.

Automatic synchronising and load-sharing fitted as standard on every unit allows easy parallel operation between the units and with the grid.

  • Stage 7

    Stage 7

    Power System Configuration

Generators connected to a standard transformer form the basic building blocks for the multi-megawatt Aggreko installation.

  • Stage 8

    Transformers and Switchgear

Aggreko supplies transformers for stepping voltage up or down as required, depending on the application.

Aggreko transformers are containerised and are supplied complete with HV protection integrated into the circuit breaker.

  • Stage 9

    Stage 9

    Control Room

The control room can be manned or controlled remotely, giving full control of each generator through a SCADA system.

  • Stage 10

    Spare Parts and Consumables

Throughout the duration of contract, a comprehensive stock of spare parts and consumables required for regular maintenance are maintained on site.

  • Stage 11

    Decommissioning

At the end of the project, the power plant is decommissioned as quickly and efficiently as it was constructed, and the site is left neat and tidy upon completion.
