Aggreko Provides Quiet Power
for PGA Championship
Leader in Rental Services, is the Choice for Hazeltine
CHASKA, Minn. (August 12, 2009) – Shouts of “Fore!” and the
hushed voices of commentators will once again be heard by thousands
of spectators and millions of television viewers at the
91st PGA Championship being held at the acclaimed
Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska Minnesota from August
10th-16th. What they won’t hear is the buzz of
generators and air conditioners,
because Aggreko, the global leader
in
rental power,
temperature control and
oil-free compressed air solutions is once again providing the
quiet rental power, heating and cooling for the tournament. Aggreko
will be keeping the sold-out crowds of championship golf fans
comfortable at Hazeltine, which is also the site of the 2016 Ryder
Cup.
Aggreko is providing the temporary power and
temperature control for 33 corporate chalets, the
36,000 sq ft Trophy Club tent, the Champions Club, the Hazeltine
Members Club, the 28,800 sq ft Championship Golf Shop, the Media
Center and dining tents, the PGA Learning Center (complete with
interactive golf simulators), and the new Mercedes-Benz display
tent with a 10ft x 60ft video wall. In addition, Aggreko is
powering 33 office trailers, six kitchens, five concession stands,
40 light towers for security – and the ball washer on the driving
range.
“The PGA Championship will be witnessed by millions of golf fans
around the world,” said Todd Fasano, Senior Project Manager,
Aggreko Event Services. “The organizers of the tournament know that
Aggreko provides the most experienced crew and the quietest, most
unobtrusive equipment, keeping the spectators comfortable and the
event running smoothly.”
An event of this size requires tons of Aggreko equipment,
including:
-Enough power for 480 medium-sized homes
-Enough air-conditioning to keep 500
medium-sized homes cool
A crew of 11 Aggreko technicians from across North America has
been working on the preparation and installation since June 22nd.
They will remain until equipment removal is complete on September
1st.
Low sound emissions are required for any golf tournament, but
each course throws up its own particular obstacles. For instance,
during the Hazeltine set up, wind gusts of 50 mph from Lake
Hazeltine delayed the building of the tents and the start of the
equipment install, but the experienced Aggreko crew was still able
to set up all of the equipment on deadline.
“Aggreko’s unparalleled expertise in power and temperature
control makes them stand apart from any other company,” said
Michael Belot, Tournament Director. “Their technicians are trained
to handle any situation that may arise. Aggreko will help us make
this the smoothest running PGA Championship yet.”
Aggreko has a long history of powering the most high-profile
events in the world, including several Olympic Games, the 2009
Presidential Inauguration, the Daytona 500 and New York’s Fashion
Week.
