The Challenge

Tailoring a sustainable and effective energy solution

In the age where sustainability is not just a preference but a necessity, the construction sector must shoulder the responsibility of innovation and environmental responsibility. We were tapped by a notable project management company for their Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) plant project in Port Isabel, TX, to provide a greener, more sustainable energy solution. To understand the unique challenges and specific power needs of the jobsite, our team stood attentive throughout thorough site assessments and six consultations with the customer. By analyzing the site’s tower crane data over time, our experts engineered a solution that not only met but exceeded the project’s requirements.

The Solutions

Integrating Battery Storage and T4F for Greener construction

We supplied four hybrid systems consisting of 250 kW Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and 300 kW Tier 4 Final generators to support the tower cranes on this project. This strategic integration of sustainable technology was pivotal in powering the construction of the LNG plant, marking a significant step forward in the construction sector as it minimizes its carbon footprint. In particular, the use of BESS underscored our shared vision for greener upgrades and emissions-saving applications, aligning perfectly with the growing trend towards sustainable energy within the construction and energy sectors.

The Impact

Significant savings and emissions reduction

The financial and environmental outcomes of this project are testament to the reliability of our temporary energy solutions. The 30-month project will see the customer save hundreds of thousands of dollars, primarily thanks to reduced fuel costs, reduced fuel drop charges, and fewer maintenance needs.

Notably, fuel drop charges were cut by 50% compared to typical generators without a BESS. Furthermore, the project achieved an estimated monthly emissions reduction of 88%, highlighting the impressive benefits of integrating sustainable practices into traditional energy solutions.
