The Challenge

An offshore production platform’s chillers were offline for planned maintenance

Extensive planning and execution are necessary to maintain production on offshore platforms during turnaround maintenance (TAR)

The facility owner and their engineering subcontractors contacted Aggreko to design a custom solution capable of meeting strict offshore specifications and operational constraints.

The Solution

Marine chillers and power supply

Aggreko engineers worked with the customer over a 6-month period to identify the optimal cooling solution, consisting of a 1,500 kW generator, three 230-ton chillers, two 1500gpm pumps, and cabling setup.

To minimize risk, a comprehensive acceptance test was conducted at Aggreko’s Pearland, TX facility. The test was a great opportunity for all parties to collaborate and ensure the ideal technical solution. Thanks to the hard work of Aggreko engineers and field techs, the equipment was installed and operational without issue.

The Impact

Temporary chillers keep the crew cool

We fit 690 tons of combined chilling capacity onto limited deck space. By working diligently, we were able to ensure that no operating hours were lost due to HVAC seawater outages.
