Aggreko Supporting Restoration Of Prestigious Queen Mary Steam Ship
We are delighted to announce that Glasgow-based power company Aggreko are supporting the restoration of TS Queen Mary, by providing a shoreside generator to supply all the power required for work on-board the ship.
In December 2018, Aggreko tasked a project manager to assess the power requirements of TS Queen Mary. A brand new generator was sized for the job and then delivered to Glasgow Science Centre. The team at Aggreko are able to monitor the new generator set remotely and support the charity as it maximises reliability and efficiency on the restoration project.
Iain Sim, Chairman, says:
“TS Queen Mary's previous generator was starting to show signs of wear and tear. We needed to find an alternative solution and reached out to Aggreko. We are delighted that they have stepped in to support us. It is certainly appropriate that a firm with such a strong footprint in both Glasgow and Dumbarton is backing TS Queen Mary."
Chris Weston, Chief Executive of Aggreko, says:
“Aggreko is delighted to be supporting the restoration of TS Queen Mary, one of the oldest Clyde-built steamers in the world. TS Queen Mary is an iconic part of Glasgow’s past and it is fitting that, once restored, she will once again become a symbol of Scottish engineering across the world. We look forward to seeing her back in her full former glory soon.”
Crawford Paterson, Vice Chairman, says:
"It is fantastic that such a well-established Scottish company is supporting the project. This takes the total raised in cash and kind to £1.96 million and having such robust power infrastructure really helps us drive the restoration forward."
