Many of the world’s fastest-developing economies are found in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. With rich resources available in these regions, there is great potential for significant growth – if they are handled in the right way.
The manufacturing sector has been identified as the core driver of sustained GDP growth: every dollar in sales of manufactured products support $1.33 in output for other sectors by boosting employment, disposable income, and spending. The African Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is expected to enhance the impact of manufacturing further by increasing intra-Africa trade by approximately 52%. As a result, manufacturing has been highlighted as a key component of Agenda 2063, the African Union’s plan for the future development of the continent.
Across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), member states have also recognised the need to promote manufacturing growth through improved infrastructure and the removal of trade tariffs. With so much of the UAE’s GDP being based on oil and gas, it knows that it must diversify as the adoption of alternative energy increases.
The Industry 4.0 plan is expected to increase manufacturing output across the UAE by 30% and Saudi Arabia has recently built six new cities designed to attract and support manufacturing companies. China has long been associated with cheap manufacturing, but, as businesses work to reduce their reliance on one country, the sector is growing across South-East Asia and India. India is now the third most popular manufacturing destination in the world and is projected to export goods worth US$ 1 trillion by 2030.
Energy infrastructure and reliable power supply are key for the manufacturing industry
For manufacturing to continue growing and boosting economies across these regions, the right infrastructure is crucial. Even for countries that have already invested in upgrading their infrastructure, keeping up with new innovations is vital to maintaining and improving productivity and profits.
Energy infrastructure must be a priority. With more manufacturing comes an increased demand for energy. And, whatever sector they operate in, manufacturers need reliable solutions that deliver power more efficiently and without interruption.
As existing plants age, grids become less reliable, and new fuels emerge, many manufacturers are focusing on greener renewable energy and the development of their own microgrids.
Our power generation solutions are tailored to meet the manufacturing industry’s needs
Aggreko has a large presence in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, as well as the rest of the world. And with our decades of experience in the manufacturing sector, we understand the importance of reliable power supply.
We know that any interruption can have significant consequences that ultimately affect profit margins and can halt growth in its tracks. With grid failure becoming a common occurrence, we have worked with manufacturers to develop solutions they can trust that will deliver all the energy they need when they need it.
We also understand the challenges that come with upgrading facilities to meet increased demand from the manufacturing sector.
This is why we offer flexible solutions tailored to each organisation’s needs: so you can get the power you need to take advantage of manufacturing’s growth, with as little disruption as possible.
Sustainable and hybrid power solutions to drive the manufacturing industry’s energy transition even further
We can help you bridge the gap between fossil fuels and renewables such as solar power in an affordable way, maximizing the efficiency of your manufacturing operation and improving your environmental credentials through the application of hybrid power solutions on your plant.
While Aggreko’s hybrid energy solutions can utilize both diesel and gas, the gas fuel option produces much fewer emissions and the gas can also be purchased cheaper than other liquid fuels without investing in any permanent infrastructure.
And it doesn’t matter how remote a plant is situated - Aggreko can set up virtual pipelines that deliver gas wherever it is needed.
