The Challenge

Supporting pre-commissioning operations with reliable modular power
The North Field Expansion Project required immediate, stable power to support the pre-commissioning and commissioning of critical systems including HP pumps, motors, and utility/process infrastructure. With the permanent grid connection still unavailable, any delay in power availability risked impacting the project timeline.

Adding to the complexity, the work had to be completed during the summer months under tough ambient conditions, and while maintaining strict HSE compliance. Aggreko stepped in as a partner that could deliver a safe, reliable, and fast-tracked solution.

The Solution

Tailored on-demand power systems for seamless integration

Aggreko worked closely with the client’s project team to assess site-specific power requirements and deliver a fit-for-purpose high-voltage solution, broken down as follows:

  • 7.2 MW-11 KV high-voltage power for the desalination plant
  • 7.2 MW 6.6 KV high-voltage power for the process area
  • 3 MW 6.6 KV high-voltage power for utility systems

The solution was devised to meet specific load profiles and operational requirements, including design validation, engineering support, and layout planning. A certified HV engineer oversaw the entire operation, ensuring complete safety and compliance. Aggreko also provided 24/7 support, covering both preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the duration of the project.
