Glasgow European Championships 2018
Aggreko is the Official Temporary Power Supporter of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, which are taking place on 2-12 August.
We will have 21.6 mVA of power supplying this inaugural event, and more than 100 of our experts will be on site to ensure these Championships provide spectators with the thrills and spills of international competition.
Many different venues comprise these Championships, from the modern Sir Chris Hoy velodrome, to the mountain bike track at Cathkin Braes and open water swimming at the idyllic Loch Lomond.
Glasgow 2018 is set to provide the ideal setting for athletes competing, and we are ready to provide our uninterruptible, mobile and modular power.
We have worked together with the Glasgow 2018 European Championships committee and have invested more than 16,430 man-hours, which shows we leave no stone unturned when it comes to supplying our own brand of power generation.
This involves 116 generators, 530 distribution boards and 120,148 metres of cable – about 300 times taller than the Empire State Building.
These Championships are a huge sporting event that will see a global reach of more than one billion people. That’s a lot of pressure, something the 3000-plus athletes will be dealing with as they compete at the top of their profession for glory and gold.
Glasgow 2018 is also the first European Championships to feature a golf tournament, which will be played at the historic Gleneagles golf course. These European Championships promise to break new ground in sporting events, and we are proud to be an Official Supporter.
