THE CHALLENGE

Powering a remote island construction project

The luxury Shura Island Resort off the coast of Saudi Arabia needed a temporary power solution for the resort’s construction while their permanent solar power plant was still being built.

However, this remote island is home to several species of sensitive flora and fauna. So the project demanded a power solution that adhered to strict environmental
standards to protect these species.

Another challenge was powering the resort’s luxury waterfront villas, which required using a subsea cable. This presented technical difficulties, such as managing the high capacitive load over an extensive length.

Tiejun contracted Aggreko to deliver reliable power to the resort without compromising the island’s pristine environment.
