Maintaining sub-zero performance during critical shutdown
Engineered cooling solution achieving precision performance at -22°C
Cooling precision that exceeded expectations
A large global food company based in Abu Dhabi, producing a diverse range of food products, engaged Aggreko during a planned one-week shutdown to service its permanent chillers.
The company faced a critical requirement - maintaining its cold storage at -20°C using Tyfoxit F40 refrigerant to preserve temperature-sensitive products and avoid operational losses. However, extreme summer temperatures and a lack of reliable suppliers capable of meeting such low temperature requirements posed a serious risk to continuity.
The customer required a modular chiller system that could deliver reliable performance under high ambient conditions and be installed within a very tight timeframe.
Aggreko's engineering team conducted a rapid technical assessment to design a bespoke very-low-temperature cooling solution tailored to the company's process parameters - including flow rate, inlet and outlet temperatures, and integration requirements.
The proposed system combined:
Upon receiving the request from the customer, Aggreko teams from Sales, HDC, Yard, and Technical Operations mobilised immediately. Despite the tight deadline, equipment reached the site within two days, and installation was completed three days later - before the food company's scheduled maintenance window.
The bespoke cooling system was successfully commissioned to maintain the -20°C requirement, delivering precise temperature control that lowered storage conditions to as low as -22°C. Supported by real-time monitoring and continuous on-site technical expertise, the solution ensured stable performance and uninterrupted cooling throughout the shutdown period.
