The challenge
Ensuring quality state of materials during HVAC system upgrade
An American bio-pharmaceutical company's warehouse in Tuas, Singapore had a long impending scheduled HVAC system upgrade on the horizon. Their facilities management contractor was tasked with the upgrade, ensuring that during the switch over, essential cooling was maintained throughout.
The warehouse stores essential raw materials included critical active pharmaceutical ingredients needed for medicine and vaccine manufacturing. It’s essential for production that the right temperature and humidity is maintained to ensure the quality of the materials are in compliance with USA FDA regulations.
There was no margin for error - a precise temperature maintained continuously was the only option.

The Solution
Integrated cooling solution in compliance with stringent requirements
The facilities management contractor required reliable support for a temporary cooling solution with the best-in-class HVAC equipment, due to the high compliance and quality standards required by the pharmaceutical warehouse. Air quality and temperature could not peak nor dip but be maintained, which could potentially degrade the materials and their properties.
Aggreko were called due to our track-record of delivering projects with high stringent requirements and quality standards. Partnering closely with the facilities management contractor, Aggreko devised a comprehensive and sophisticated cooling solution comprising of eight air handlers and an air-cooled chiller.
The team provided flexible engineering support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from project design, commissioning and through to operations. It is never just provision of rental equipment with Aggreko, but also peace of mind.
The Aggreko Difference
A spoonful of precise cooling helps the medicine get made
The Impact
Optimum temperature for production maintained and possible millions saved
Fresh and cool ventilation was maintained for a total of 45 days, at temperatures between 22⁰C to 23⁰C with 50% humidity. Catastrophic consequences in the form of corrosion of raw materials leading to delayed production and also financial losses of up to millions would have been incurred - if not for the effective temporary cooling solution and reliable equipment in place.
The warehouse's function of ensuring storage of raw materials at the exact temperature and humidity conditions were maintained during the system upgrade, thanks to the strong partnership and engineering expertise of Aggreko and the facilities management contractor.
