Heat stress mitigation at a Qatari plant

Companies around the world must find ways to keep their facilities cool and comfortable, in order to support heat stress mitigation. Heat stress can be extremely dangerous for employees, with effects ranging from heat rash to cramps or even heat stroke. This major integrated petrochemical plant in Mesaieed, Qatar was no different. Temperatures in the region reach up to 45°C in summer and as much as 50°C inside the company’s refinery plant. The company needed a way to bring temperatures down, particularly in the summer shelters used by labourers during the warmer months.
