The challenge
A long-standing customer in the Italian oil and gas sector needed to restore a gas regasification platform to full operational efficiency. The job required sand blasting, metallisation and repainting of heat exchangers — work that demands a continuous, reliable supply of clean, oil-free compressed air.
The challenge? It was the first project of its kind in Italy. No local team had the offshore permits. The platform itself sat directly on the seabed, in a demanding environment with strict certification requirements. And the clock was ticking.
The solution
We designed and deployed an oil-free air (OFA) solution built around the specific demands of an offshore environment. Working at pace across borders, our Italian team collaborated with oil-free specialists from our France and UK teams to engineer the right configuration — including layout changes to ensure stable, uninterrupted performance.
We handled every step: the technical design, the offshore certifications, the documentation and the on-site support. Our UK colleagues provided the qualified offshore personnel Italy didn't yet have. Our large, flexible fleet meant we could put together the right kit fast. The working phase was complete in under a month.
The impact
The platform performs as if new. Gas regasification efficiency is restored. The customer got a seamless service from a single partner — across borders, on time, to spec.
The project opened a door. The customer has already called us back for a new job. And it proved something bigger: Italy is ready to lead in offshore OFA. The market is growing, and we're ready to grow with it.
