Critical contingency cooling for mine crusher circuit
Client: Rio Tinto
Location: Western Australia
Sectors: Mining
The Challenge
Provide critical cooling for mine crusher processes
The Yandicoogina mine is located in Western Australia, approximately 95 kilometres away from the nearest town
The remote site presents its own difficulties for mining operations. When chillers on the crusher cooling circuit failed through the winter, there was an urgent need for a contingency plan for the upcoming summer months. The location demanded a plan well before the summer heat arrived.
A reliable redundancy for the temperature control equipment to allow the iron ore crusher to operate without interruption would solve the issue.
Luckily, the mine operator had worked with a company who could provide this.
Key Facts
The Solution
Rapid deployment of chiller contingency
Our experts worked with the site’s workforce to devise the best approach and our FC200 chiller was agreed to be the appropriate course of action.
The chiller was installed with ancillary equipment (hose, Repair work on the failed chillers could begin thanks to the contingency that our chiller solution offered. Our mobile, modular equipment and experience in working in remote locations combined to help us deploy as quickly as possible, removing any cables and fittings) to allow for quick connection and start-up if required.
This rapidly deployed solution meant that not only could the crusher continue unabated, but the customer had the assurances they craved, allowing them to focus on the operation of their core business.
The Impact
Production continued and crusher stayed online
Our mobile, modular equipment and experience in working in remote locations combined to help us deploy as quickly as possible, removing any worries the customer may have had regarding the looming summer months.
Potential production losses were avoided as well, which meant targets stayed in view and the customer could continue to plan ahead.
