The challenge
To dry out the interior of a care hub building
Robinson Construction wanted help to speed up the internal dry-out phase of a care hub built in the grounds of South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields.
There was a tight project schedule.
The building’s own heating system also needed to be tested and commissioned.

The solution
Win-win two solutions in one
We initially installed 125 kW IDF heaters to speed up the interior dry-out phase of the building but then saw a way to bring additional benefit.
We linked one of our 250 kW boilers to the new underfloor heating system and pumped hot water through to raise the temperature. This was quieter, reduced disruption and was more cost-effective than using a diesel IDF heater option. The rental boiler also helped commission the underfloor heating system – speeding up two processes with one solution.
The impact
Savings in space, time and money and a quick dry out
The project stayed on target by getting a quick dry-out. The commissioning process of the permanent boiler and ducting system was also accelerated.
