Greener Upgrades

Birmingham 2022 seeks a carbon neutral legacy via Aggreko and is working with its partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to reduce its carbon footprint wherever possible. Central to this is the way the event is powered.

As the official Modular Energy Solutions Supporter for Birmingham 2022, Aggreko is responsible for planning the temporary energy framework for all 15 of the Games’ venues along with the athletes villages and the fleet depot centre to power the electric vehicles.

To support the Games achieve it's environmental legacy, Aggreko will be delivering fleet from our Greener Upgrades range. This includes battery hybrids, solar and our latest Stage V generators running on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) – a more sustainable fuel source. They provide greater efficiency than traditional generators as well as reducing NOx emissions, CO2 emissions, and other harmful particulates. Emissions will be further minimised using Load on Demand and right sizing methodologies.
