Additional power during gas turbine replacement and platform process improvements
Our customer took ownership of an ageing and underperforming oil field which consisted of five offshore platforms. They needed power to facilitate the platform refurbishment which included process improvements and planned / emergency maintenance as well as upgrading the ageing existing gas turbines.
As the gas turbines were the only source of power on the platform, the customer needed a reliable supplementary power supply to full support the platform during this process.

The Solution
Full service DNV rig safe package and load testing
As a full-service power specialist provider, we handled all planning activities which included strategic planning, scope mapping and preproject planning to ensure that the solution was efficient, safe and fit for purpose. The customer took full advantage of our full turn-key service, so our engineers operated and maintained the power package 24/7 for two years. Our support and reliability allowed We needed to provide High Voltage DNV Rig safe packages - not something everyone can do.
The first package consisted to a 2 MVA Low Voltage package’s with a 2.5 MVA High voltage step up transformer at 11 kV. The second package consisted of a 3 MVA low voltage package with a 6 MVA high voltage transformer, also at 11 kV. We also provided a 14 MVA load bank test, to allow final completion and testing of the new gas ring main and turbine installation.
