Front-of-Meter (FoM)

What does "Front-of-Meter" mean?

Front-of-meter generation refers to generation that occurs on the utility side of the grid, typically involving larger scale generation activities. Aggreko will develop these specifically to meet a customer’s requirements, once any on/near-site (BtM) opportunities have been utilised. It is connected to and delivered by the utility company and must be ‘monitored and counted’ by the customer’s meter to be used. This energy supply remains the responsibility of the utility company who also manage it.

Utility scale solar

FoM solar farms can produce electricity to meet customer needs and are built on a large scale, remote from a customer's site.

CPPA’s

Aggreko can support you with CPPAs for your renewable energy.
CPPAs are direct contractual agreements between a business and a renewable energy generator. They provide many benefits for businesses, renewable developers, and the environment, including:

  • Protecting businesses against market price volatility, providing increased budget certainty and the ability to secure sustainable credentials
  • Providing developers with financial certainty, security, and confidence to make a final investment decision to start building renewable projects

All of Aggreko’s developments will be built specifically for a customer’s needs and meet the most stringent of ‘additionality’ hurdles.  This means that renewable energy generation that is truly new – i.e. additional. For example, companies responsible for financially supporting new, expanding, or developing renewable generation sources, as opposed to buying into what is already available or planned, can claim additionality.
