Client:A Mechanical Contractor

Location:Texas

Sectors:Contracting

The Challenge

Ensuring operations during chiller service

A national retailer’s distribution center in Lancaster, TX faced a critical challenge when scheduled maintenance on its permanent chillers threatened to halt refrigeration operations. Any temperature fluctuation risked product spoilage, revenue loss, and major logistical disruptions.

The mechanical contractor managing the service work needed a partner who could design and deploy a temporary cooling solution capable of attaining -40°F temperatures; a level of precision and performance rarely achieved in temporary setups. Time was tight, and the facility could not afford delays.

Aggreko was selected to provide a high-performance, engineered system that could achieve low-temperature conditions.

The Solution

Delivering ultra-low-temperature cooling at speed

Aggreko’s technical specialists and engineers jumped into action and after walking the site and collaborating with the client team, we were able to mobilize a custom low-temperature cooling and power package within one week. All this was done while maintaining a seamless integration to the site’s permanent infrastructure. The system included:

Additional technical specialists were mobilized from Houston to accelerate setup, while Aggreko’s engineers oversaw system startup to guarantee precise temperature control.

The temporary system lowered temperatures to -40°F supply, proving the reliability and accuracy of Aggreko’s design. This project also marked the first deployment of Aggreko’s new -40°F low-temp chillers, highlighting the company’s investment in cutting-edge technology for mission-critical refrigeration environments.

The Impact:

Preventing downtime and protecting operations

Aggreko’s system surpassed expectations by demonstrating exceptional technical and engineering prowess. Our tailored system was able to reach extremely low temperatures, a critical benchmark for our refrigeration capabilities.

By delivering a complete turnkey solution, including fuel management, DEF supply, and ARM, Aggreko provided ease from the operational headaches typically associated with temporary cooling systems. Had the customer gone with competitor equipment, added heat load in the building could have caused operational issues. Our innovative equipment and integrated services were key to achieving precision temperature control. This project highlighted Aggreko’s technical expertise, flexibility, and ability to deliver fully managed, reliable solutions in demanding environments.
