Client:Colorado oil and gas facility
Location:Fort Lupton, Colorado, US
Sectors:Oil and gas
The Challenge
On the search for a winterproof hybrid power system
Facing severe winterization issues in the frigid DJ Basin, the client was grappling with the inefficiencies of their existing generators, specifically two 200 kW units for each site.
During winter, the generators struggled to run efficiently, requiring hours of operation daily, impacting fuel consumption and emitting excess pollutants.
The extremities of the cold – plunging into negative temperatures – took a toll on the generators, resulting in blown engines and operational complications. With multiple sites within the basin, the customer didn’t want to take any chances.
The critical situation prompted the client to seek a robust solution to optimize power supply, reduce downtime, and overcome the limitations of their existing setup. The imminent threat of further engine failures, and the financial implications of prolonged inefficiencies, meant there was a pressing need for a reliable and winter-resistant power generation alternative.
