How to reach Net Zero while improving efficiency and cutting costs
The path to Net Zero looks different for everyone. Businesses understand the necessity of reducing emissions as much as possible, but each one has their own individual challenges that affect the pace at which they can make the transition to cleaner energy.
One of the biggest challenges is remaining competitive and profitable while adopting a greener energy strategy. Financial penalties for failing to reduce emissions keep increasing but switching from fossil fuels to renewables is a complex and costly process.
That’s why Aggreko has already spent many years working on a path to Net Zero for ourselves and our customers. We aim to be the enabler for our customers to lead the drive towards clean energy. Our solutions are designed to be adaptable and affordable for all companies so that they can progress smoothly through the energy transition without impacting their core business.
Tackling the Net Zero challenge together
Achieving Net Zero won’t be easy, but it is essential. To get there, you need to choose an energy partner that’s fully committed to challenging targets. You need to select an energy partner that invests in the clean energy technology that’s available now and will invest in the technology available in the future. You need to choose an energy partner that understands the unique requirements of your business and can provide you with solutions that cover every base. You need to choose Aggreko.
Aggreko’s path to Net Zero
Aggreko will become a Net Zero business across all services we provide by 2050 or sooner. To achieve this, we have committed to reaching the following goals by 2030:
- Reducing the amount of fossil fuel used in customer solutions by at least 50% by offering customers cleaner technologies and fuels that guarantee the same or better reliability and competitiveness.
- Reducing local emissions from our solutions by at least 50%.
- Aggreko will achieve Net Zero across all its business operations.
We’ve already made significant strides towards these targets by turning landfills, biogas and flare gas into power. We have also invested in battery storage, solar, and more efficient and lower emission generators.
For instance, our new Ultra-Low Emissions Package allows businesses to continue use fossil fuels and still make progress towards Net Zero. Our innovative catalyst system can be attached to generators to capture and clean up emissions as soon as they are produced, reducing emissions by up to 99%.
But there is still much to do.
Strategic priorities
To ensure we remain on course for Net Zero by 2050, we have defined our development priorities for the coming years and decades:
- We will continue to accelerate our investment in lower-carbon technologies and shift our generator fleet towards gas and drop-in liquid fuels.
- We expect e-fuels, hydrogen-ready engines, and fuel cells to become available at scale soon. Therefore, we are increasing our investment in these to allow us and our customers to take full advantage.
- We are constantly monitoring and investigating innovative technologies to ensure we are always one step ahead with clean energy trends and ready to implement new solutions at the earliest opportunity.
