You’ve probably got a seasonal planning for business continuity in place. One that keeps you and your equipment from getting too cold in the winter months or too warm in the summer months.
You know how even minor damage to thermal insulation could risk critical components freezing in cold weather, so you make sure all your staff and equipment are fully prepared well in advance.
We are aware that average temperatures are likely to be higher or lower in certain months, but we have no idea when extreme weather conditions will hit. Whether it’s heatwaves, droughts or wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, or winter freezes, we only get a few days warning if we’re lucky.

You can’t afford to stop at seasonal readiness. You need an operational readiness plan that considers both long-term climate changes and sudden, extreme weather. And, most importantly, it needs to be cost-efficient so that your profits are not affected.
And operational readiness is about more than just weather. You need to look ahead to developments in your industry that are likely to happen during the lifespan of your project, and how you can take advantage of them. Technology is adapting and improving every year. Whether it’s construction or refining, cooling or heating, your project plan needs to incorporate new technology that will be available part way through if you’re going to make it as efficient as possible.

Especially if your project is running for five or ten years, or even more. Perhaps you’re setting up an oil refinery that’s going to be in operation for at least 20 years. All these estimates you’ve made are based on the conditions right now.
