First 100 percent hybrid aggreko plant in amazonas

First 100 percent hybrid aggreko plant in amazonas

The Challenge

Transform lives by bringing renewable energy to remote communities.

Aggreko’s Independent Power Producer Project (PIE) was developed to supply energy and promote economic, sustainable, and social development to 26 remote communities in the Amazon region, where dense vegetation, river-only access, and long distances make it unfeasible to extend traditional transmission lines.

To reduce CO₂ emissions from the PIE, it became essential to implement hybridization, providing reliable renewable energy to these isolated areas, protecting one of the world’s greenest regions, and continuing to deliver power that has transformed local lives in recent years.

Key Data

  • 1.4MW Thermal
  • 373 kWp Solar
  • 1MW / 500kWh BESS

The Solution

Develop a hybrid and renewable energy solution for Caiambé.

This is the first 100% hybrid power plant in the interior of the Amazon, an innovative initiative within Brazil’s isolated power systems. It represents a significant milestone for Aggreko, the energy sector, and the roughly 3,000 residents of Caiambé.

The plant combines three technologies (thermal generation, solar energy, and battery storage), forming an intelligent, fully automated system that self-manages to ensure optimal energy efficiency.

The Impact

Approximate annual reduction of 130,000 liters of diesel and 405 tons of CO₂.

Our commitment goes beyond simply mitigating negative impacts — we are accelerating our sustainability efforts to ensure a better future for people, our partners, and the planet.

In addition to providing efficient energy infrastructure and contributing to the social and economic development of Caiambé, every technical insight from this project serves as a model for future applications in other regions.

This is how we strive to make a difference: by empowering communities with our energy and reaffirming our commitment to renewable solutions that reduce emissions.
