Restoring a business community after a flood

Client: Building restoration contractor

Location: Houston, Texas, USA

The Challenge

Meet commissioning timeline expectations

As Hurricane Harvey barrelled down the coast of Texas, many businesses prepared for potential flooding. A Houston software manufacturer suffered flood damage in previous years, and knew the high risk of a reoccurrence, but no one expected the several feet of water that would flood the basements and first floors of the campus. Working with property managers and contractors, they created a plan to deploy equipment as soon as they had safe entry into the buildings.

The Solution

Mobilization of temporary power and utilities

Having worked with Aggreko in the past, the contractor knew they could count on us to help restore critical operations quickly. 27 MW of diesel generators were deployed to provide the seven-building campus with power, and with the switch gear and transformers also submerged underwater, we provided the necessary distribution equipment to support our power supply. Our desiccant dehumidifiers were also brought onsite providing a total of 650,000 cfm to help dry the buildings and prevent deterioration from mold and humidity.

The Impact

We helped the plant maintain full production

With our focus on reliability and standby support, the customer succeeded in performing the restoration and commissioning phase for each flooded building without a single safety violation and in-line with timeline expectations.
