Client:Texas Petrochemical Facility
Location:Longview, Texas, USA
Sectors:Petrochemical and refining
The Challenge
The petrochemical site faced severe issues with its diesel compressors, leading to frequent downtime and production disruptions. These compressors – rented from a previous vendor – were unreliable, often failing after just a few hours of operation.
Lacking the right technical support from their previous vendor, the company struggled to maintain the consistent air supply that was crucial for its operations. As the compressors continued to malfunction, the company resorted to renting more diesel units, which further exacerbated its fueling challenges and operational costs.
Facing potential daily losses of up to $1 million per reactor in the event of air supply failure, addressing these issues and securing a reliable solution grew more and more urgent for the petrochemical site continued operations and profitability.
The Solution
We swiftly responded to the company’s urgent need for reliable compressed air solutions. At first, Aggreko provided two Tier 4 Final 1,600cfm diesel compressor packages with fuel management, offering immediate relief from downtime and helping to ensure uninterrupted operations. As a longer-term solution, Aggreko then introduced two electric compressors, replacing the diesel units and resolving their fueling challenges.
Aggreko’s expertise, flexibility, and commitment to reliability not only addressed our customer’s immediate challenges but also paved the way for a sustainable, long-term partnership, positioning Aggreko as a trusted ally in ensuring operational excellence for the company and the petrochemical and refining industry at large.

This resulted in an overall reduction in the customer’s monthly expenses, from an estimated $183,000 to just $32,000.
The transition from diesel to Tier 4F diesel and electric compressors, coupled with efficient fuel management, also provided a more sustainable setup for the company. Aggreko’s expertise and proactive support were pivotal to strengthening the partnership with the customer, opening up avenues for future collaboration and business growth. Ultimately, Aggreko’s comprehensive solutions ensured that the petrochemical site could sustain uninterrupted operations, optimize costs, and achieve sustainable success in their operations.
