The Challenge
Compensating for the energy deficit caused by drought
Low rainfall levels combined with a lack of investment in energy infrastructure did not allow Venezuela´s generation and transmission company CADAFE to satisfy the growing energy demand in the country. Constant blackouts were affecting the users of Apure and Guarico States, which in addition to affecting the quality of life, had a significant economic impact on the commercial and industrial activities of the region. Aggreko was selected to help overcome the existing generation deficit in the shortest possible time.
KEY FACTS
- 30 MW of reliable energy
- 4 weeks installation and commissioning
The Solution
A comprehensive short-term proposal
The customer approved an economical, flexible and efficient proposal which included all the requirements needed to generate 30 MW of energy. The local availability and fast deployment of the equipment was key to our customer, so in a 4-week period, we were able to install and star running our generators. Some equipment was already available from Aggreko´s local warehouse in Venezuela, however, we also mobilized some others from different countries in South America. Local mechanical engineers and electricians were hired and trained to assist existing personnel in the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
The Impact
Region benefited with safe and reliable energy
The people of Apure and Guarico States were immediately benefited from the energy supply, which allowed the activities to resume as normal. In addition to this, new jobs were created, positively impacting the economic growth of the region.
