The Challenge
Powering the critical track lighting and cutting edge HVAC solutions for the Formula 1® night race
With a long-standing global partnership with Formula 1®, Aggreko has delivered reliable energy solutions for some of the most iconic races worldwide.
That expertise equipped us to return as the Official Temporary Power Partner for the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, prepared to meet the high stakes of year two. Thanks to that experience, we were more prepared than ever to deliver outstanding results – but the Las Vegas Grand Prix still posed monumental challenges. We were tasked with supporting the transformation of urban parking lots and streets into a world-class racing venue, by delivering power and temperature control solutions capable of meeting the second year expectations of not only F1® but also a global audience.
The stakes were sky-high. Critical elements – including track lighting for the ultimate night races, live broadcasts to millions worldwide, and the inaugural Fan Experience – demanded flawless execution.
Adding to the complexity, the event also required comfort cooling and heating solutions for VIP hospitality zones, team garages, massive catering operations, and more.
With just four months to design and implement the utility infrastructure for a three-day event, the timing was uncompromising. But failure was not an option – each detail had to be perfect to guarantee drivers’ safety, the fan experiences, and uphold the prestige of Formula 1®.

The Solution
Low-emission hybrid solutions and top-tier engineering expertise ensured a seamless world-class night race
Working closely with the Las Vegas Grand Prix team as the Official Temporary Power Partner, we designed and built a meticulously engineered temporary utility solution to provide power for the night race.
The setup included 34.6 MW of power, 14.2 million BTUs of cooling, and 4.1 million BTUs of heating, ensuring seamless operation across critical areas. We deployed a total of 110 low emission Tier 4F generators – engineered to meet the highest emission standards, providing reliable energy and redundancy while significantly reducing local emissions.
We paired the generators with battery energy storage systems (BESS), enabling automatic switching between generator power and battery energy. This minimized fuel consumption, lowered emissions, and improved reliability even further, giving the team much-needed peace of mind that the event would maintain the power it needed to deliver an excellent experience.
We also provided electric air conditioners and heaters, keeping guests comfortable, all while minimizing emissions.
Most importantly, we powered critical track lighting – crucial for keeping the event illuminated for a dramatic nighttime race – in 16 different positions with power from multiple 300 kW generators, as well as HVAC solutions at many locations, including VIP hospitality and Skybox suites, grandstand, the Paddock, Neon Garden, and much more.
