The Challenge
Provide a solution for power generation from biogas
Eva Energia operates in power and natural gas commercialization, distributed generation, and biomethane sales.
The company has planned to invest in power plants and start selling energy from landfill gas at two locations: Seropédica (Rio de Janeiro State), the largest landfill site in Latin America, and Mauá (São Paulo State).
To increase its share of the renewable energy market, the customer requires a partner that has new-generation technology, the latest equipment, and has an extremely qualified team capable of operating and maintaining the plant. Additionally, Eva Energia needs to ensure that generators operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without the risk of blackouts.
Key Facts
- 10 MW of landfill gas power
- 7 years
- 2 landfills
The Solution
Turn-key solution with 8 generators, providing 10 MW of power for 7 years
The solution includes the supply of 8 gas generators, 4 at each landfill site, providing a total of 10 MW power for seven years. Aggreko's highly efficient gas generators are manufactured using innovative new-generation technology that can use landfill gas as fuel.
Preventive and corrective operation and maintenance are also included in our solution. The landfill sites have the potential when in full operation to produce 73 million m3 of renewable natural gas (RNG) per year. Aggreko's solution also includes a cooling system and a highly specialized team that can remotely monitor plants, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Impact
Access to the best and modern technology without making a huge capital investment, qualified staff, and flexibility when it comes to renewable energy generation
Renting this new-generation technology allows customers to save money and at the same time gain access to the most innovative technologies. Aggreko is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the entire plant and equipment and helps clients to reduce their costs by training qualified workers to deal with the requirements of equipment and processes.Furthermore, Aggreko's solution reduces investment in equipment, lowers operating costs, and results in faster entry into operation. Operations can start only 4 months after the import of equipment.
If the customer decides to buy new machines, the timeframe for delivery is between 8 and 10 months, delaying the start of power generation and reducing profits. Society as a whole is also impacted by the growth of renewable energy use. The search by companies all over the world for the adoption of a sustainable energy source with reduced carbon emissions has led to an increase in the production of electricity from landfill biogas. Aggreko is committed to offering more efficient solutions, consolidating itself as a partner for its customers in the processing of waste into energy. Aggreko guarantees that generator emissions meet the standards required by CETESB (the Environmental Agency of the State of São Paulo).
