Diesel generators previously powered resolute Mining's Syama Gold Mine in Mali. Not only was this substantially producing amounts of harmful emissions, but the fluctuating fuel cost in the region led to financial uncertainty. However, Aggreko's hybrid solution is partway through installation and has already delivered huge benefits. In year one, the first stage has already saved $10 million on energy - a 40% reduction on previous costs. And once the solar power is running in stage three, further savings will be realized, along with a 20% reduction in carbon emissions.

In Western Australia, we installed a hybrid solar, gas, and battery solution for Gold Fields Australia as part of their commitment to using renewables for at least 20% of their mining power. A combination of 7.7MW solar power, 2 MW battery storage, and 27MW gas power helped them reach this target efficiently with no capital outlay and a significant reduction in their total energy cost.

The Solheim Cup is the most prestigious event in ladies' golf. As such, they wanted to deliver flawless competition in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Aggreko provided energy and temperature control with a combination of solar and battery power. The goal was to reduce fuel usage by almost 700 liters (about the volume of a large refrigerator) to show the world that golf is doing its bit in the fight against climate change. Aggreko installed a similar solar battery-hybrid system at the 149th edition of golf's oldest major - The Open Championship. Generators were also fueled by HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), delivering an overall reduction of 40% in CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) emissions.
