For new data centers, ensuring that comprehensive testing has been undertaken on all critical infrastructure is one area that cannot be compromised on.

Commissioning is a critical phase of the data center lifecycle, and testing at this stage should include:

Incoming MV electrical distribution down to rack-level power, from 20kV switchgear to AC or DC power distribution units

Transformers, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), and stand-by generation

Mechanical cooling including water cooled towers, chillers, free cooling solutions down to the DX & CRAC units within the halls

Heat loads to perform the integrated systems test (IST)

  • Load bank testing across five data center commissioning levels (L1-L5), carried out remotely via a hand-held device or using a laptop that utilizes our testing software. We conduct precise tests with less personnel and time, while delivering improved load reliability for your critical infrastructure. We also provide full load test documentation for quality auditing purposes, including method statements and schematics.
  • Power testing using load banks, diesel generators, and LV/HV power generation to test your generators, UPS, busbars, and switchgear. Our load banks offer leading and lagging testing, ranging from 230 kW to 6,300 kVA.
  • Heat load testing to emulate the electrical IT load and heat output for your cooling systems. From water-cooled load banks to 2-4 kW rack-mounted emulators and mobile 200 kW load banks, we stock heat load equipment designed for data center applications.

Uptime and availability are key to success in any data center – but it can be difficult to be certain about performance until your data center power and cooling equipment is under pressure. When demand spikes, you need to be sure your equipment can cope. A load bank gives you a way to put your equipment under a fixed load and test how it performs – a key part of data center commissioning.

In general, the more test points you have along the path of your data center commissioning the better. Global frameworks for testing include five distinct levels, each offering its own check:

  • Level 1 testing in the factory where equipment is made
